Apartment Guide Feature | Discover Richmond's Hidden Gems

Recently I was asked to provide what I believed to be a top experience or hidden gem in Richmond, Virginia for a feature article on Apartmentguide.com. Of course my first thought was my absolute favorite place to hang out in RVA, the VMFA! I used to live less than a mile from the VMFA and would regularly walk to the grounds, sometimes multiple times a day! Sitting on the grassy hill and people watching was always a lot of fun. And on Friday nights when it's warm, the happy hours are the place to be! Grab a blanket and a bottle of wine and watch the sun go down from the top of the Robins Sculpture Garden.

"Richmond native and renowned photographer Caroline Martin is an expert on finding the city's hidden gems. Having lived throughout the city, she's always discovering new and exciting experiences. One of her favorite things to do is walk to the VMFA and hang out on the grassy hill, people watching and admiring the garden sculptures. Caroline raves about VMFA's After 5 Fridays as the ultimate Friday night hangout. This weekly happy hour, running from 5:30 to 8:30 PM in the Cochran Atrium, transforms into a vibrant outdoor gathering in the Robins Sculpture Garden during the warmer months. Grab a drink special from The Best Cafe and find a spot on the lawn with your picnic essentials. Live music often adds to the festive atmosphere. Caroline suggests making a night of it by enjoying a bottle of wine as the sun sets, creating a perfect end to the week." - Excerpt from Discover Hidden Gems in Richmond: Your Local Insider’s Guide to RVA
